Dual transmitter, dual receiver RS-232 interface IC that operates from a single 3.0V to 5.5V supply and meets EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 specifications even at 3.0V. RS-232 pins carry ±15kV ESD protection under the Human Body Model, with ±8kV IEC 61000-4-2 contact-discharge ratings. Assured data rates reach 250kbps at worst-case load conditions, with a minimum slew rate of 6V/µs. The on-chip charge pump requires only four external 0.1µF capacitors, and supply current is 0.3mA typical. The 16-lead SOIC-W package version operates over the 0°C to +70°C range and is RoHS compliant.
