Adjustable three-terminal positive voltage regulator that supplies up to 5A over a 1.2V to 32V output range, set by two external resistors against a 1.24V reference. Line regulation is 0.005% typ and load regulation is 0.1% typ at 25°C across a 3V to 40V input-to-output differential. Time-dependent current limiting permits peak currents up to 12A for short transients while thermal overload and safe-area protection guard the output transistor, and the output is short-circuit protected. The device operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C and is supplied in a 2-lead steel TO-CAN package.
