Optically coupled isolator built from a GaAs light-emitting diode and an NPN silicon phototransistor in a 4-pin gull-wing surface-mount package. It delivers 5000 V r.m.s. isolation voltage between input and output and supports an 80 V collector-to-emitter voltage with a 300 to 600 percent current transfer ratio at the K rank. Switching times are typically 3 µs rise and 5 µs fall. The device operates over an ambient temperature range of -55 to +100 °C, is Pb-free, and carries UL 1577 double-protection approval.
