Single-channel UART converts parallel data to serial data and back for asynchronous communications, sustaining up to 3 Mbit/s at 5 V, 2 Mbit/s at 3.3 V, and 1 Mbit/s at 2.5 V. It provides 64-byte transmit and receive FIFOs with error flags, automatic RTS/CTS hardware flow control, DMA transfer signaling, and internal loopback diagnostics. Four selectable receive interrupt trigger levels, fully programmable character formats, and a software-selectable baud rate generator support flexible system integration. The device operates from 2.5 V, 3.3 V, or 5 V supplies, features 5 V tolerant input pins, and includes sleep and low-power modes that cut operating current. It operates over the industrial temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C and is offered in a plastic low-profile quad flat 64-lead package (LQFP64, 10 x 10 x 1.4 mm, SOT314-2).
