Synchronous boost converter provides a power-supply solution for one-cell Li-Ion or Li-polymer batteries and two- to four-cell alkaline, NiCd, or NiMH battery inputs. The boost stage operates from 1.8 V to 5.5 V input and supports adjustable or fixed outputs from 2.5 V to 5.5 V with a typical 1.6 A switch current limit. An integrated reverse-voltage-protected 200 mA LDO can post-regulate the boost output or provide a second output. The device includes power-save operation, low-battery comparator, power-good output, load disconnect during shutdown, low-EMI antiringing circuitry, and overtemperature protection. The orderable part is supplied in a 16-pin VQFN RSA package with large tape-and-reel carrier packaging.
