The UCC3973 is a BiCMOS CCFL controller designed for high-efficiency backlight power supplies in portable applications. It features an integrated feedback-controlled PWM driver stage, open lamp protection, and a programmable startup delay. Unique to the UCC3973 is an internal voltage clamp at the BUCK pin to protect the transformer from overvoltage during startup or fault conditions. It supports both analog and low-frequency dimming and operates with a typical supply current of 1mA.
