Metal oxide varistor provides overvoltage and transient voltage protection using a low-beta zinc oxide ceramic disc. The 10 mm device is rated for 175 V RMS and 225 V DC continuous operation with a 275 V varistor voltage at 1 mA. It clamps to 455 V at 25 A and handles 41 J energy pulses with 2500 A non-repetitive 8/20 µs surge current. The component uses matte-tin plated leads and a halogen-free UL 94 V-0 epoxy coating for electrical, mechanical, and climatic protection. Ammopack taped packaging is specified, and operation is rated from -40 °C to +85 °C.
