A high-frequency synchronous step-down DC-DC converter supplies a fixed 2.1-V output at up to 100 mA from a 1.9-V to 3.9-V input, enabling the use of small and low-cost chip inductors and capacitors. An ultra-low-power bypass mode consumes a typical 30 nA and connects the output capacitor to the input through a typical 2.1-Ω switch, with automatic transition from DC-DC to bypass operation. In DC-DC mode the converter operates with a typical 25-µA quiescent current and a 100% maximum duty cycle using DCS-Control, and it works with a small 2.2-µF output capacitor. The device operates over -40°C to 85°C and is housed in a 6-pin USON package measuring 1.45 mm by 1 mm.
